Back<< Charlie's friends veiws
Sandra Gardner

I went to visit charlie today, sunday 14th sept. This was my third visit with charlie and i have to say my visits get better every time i've never met anyone so possitive ! To say charlie has been living in such extreme conditions for so long how he stays so focused and strong i'll never know,he truly is a remarkable man !He never feels sorry for himself he's always upbeat we talked about alsorts of things and had plenty of laughs,it's always a pleasure to visit to visit him! I come away feeling happy and upbeat in myself,he has a way of doing that to we talked mostly about his latest parole hearing, which was deferred, why was it deferred and how the penel system expects charlie's q.c to represent him in one hour,it beggers belief ! It's time that the system now gives charlie a chance. He can do good out here,i do believe he could be a good role model for young offenders, his experience speaks for itself and i'm sure they would listen to him because there's no one in this country better than charlie to say crime doesn't pay !
He's learnt his lesson, how many more times can he appologise for his crimes,if he had raped or murdered someone he would probably have been home by now but the british justice system for you, they let pedofiles and terrorists out on tags and they keep charlie who's never raped or killed anyone and he's locked up for 23hrs a day ! Well i will get off my soap box now and get back to my visit ! We talked about his film and how it will highlite his plite, lets hope the british public sit up and take note of what charlie has had to suffer. We also talked about food, yeah charlie loves his grub(as he calls it)i could easly spend the day with charlie as two hours goes by in no time at all !I left in a happy mood, evan the prison officers say what a changed man is compared to his younger days, and they sould know !one officer i spoke to on a visit has known charlie for 28yrs and said to me,if it was up to them they would sign his papers tomorrow for his release, but they're never asked. In my opinions they're the ones who the parole board sould be asking as they're the ones that see him 24/7 !so until my next visit charlie, stay happy and strong and i'll keep smiling your freind Sandra.
